Christmas Wishes Come True At Vancouver Market

Picture 5

Christmas markets have been tradition for over 700 years in Germany and other parts of Europe. Brining communities together with light and laughter (not to mention delicious food and drink) during the season’s darkest days.

This week Vancouver welcomed its first (hopefully annual!) traditional Christmas market. Reminiscent of the 2,500 Christmas markets found across Germany, the Vancouver Christmas Market guarantees to get you in a festive mood. Located at the Plaza at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the village is compromised of row after row of illuminated wooden huts offering up handmade goods and tempting treats, many imported from Europe.

As day turns to night, you will be transported to a simpler time, a perfect place for a romantic stroll or family outing. You will be enchanted by daily performances from wold class string ensembles, festive carol singers and European dance performances. Enjoy a glass of mulled wine or hot cider before taking in a feature workshop such as chocolate making or bee keeping. There will also be feature workshops for the kids, where they have the chance to make their own Christmas gifts.

Be sure to arrive hungry as vendors will be serving up a mix of European delicacies including German Bratwurst, sucking pig, roasted chestnuts, artisan breads and a selection of German beers.

Colourful décor. Authentic gifts. Family entertainment. Tasty authentic food. The aroma of mulled wine. A truly enchanting atmosphere.”
