Crowded shopping centres, tangled Christmas lights and carols that infest your brain like catchy little locusts – there are many things about the holiday season that can make anyone feel a little Grinch-like.
Beat the holiday blues with a visit to Vancouver, with dozens of holiday events in and around the city centre you will find the activity to take the Scourge out of You.
Running Decemeber 9th – 13th, the Vancouver Men’s Chorus hosts their annual audience driven show, “Making Spirits Bright” at the West End’s Saint Paul’s Anglican Church offering up traditional and contemporary show that is fun for the whole family. On their annual mission to brighten your holiday spirits they conjure up all of your Christmases of the past with renditions of classical favorites of “Holly and the Ivy”, Henry VIII’s courtly “Green Groweth the Holly”, and newly-composed variations on “O Tannenbaum”, which range in spirit from the great German Romantic Liedertafel to a sprightly Baroque cantata and the cool shades of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Goh Ballet and Vancouver Opera Orchestra’s holiday performance of the classic fairytale ballet The Nutcracker is a Vancouver institution.
