Vancouver: Your Christmas Shopping Destination
The Thanksgiving turkey leftovers have finally gone, you’ve come down from your Halloween sugar high, so now it is time to turn your attention to the jolliest time of year – Christmas.
Vancouver offers a plethora of shopping adventures, so this Christmas don’t get left out in the cold when it comes to gift giving. From high end fashion to locally crafted goodies, Vancouver has something for everyone on your list.

For the fashionista in your life, we begin with the world famous Robson Street. Only a three minute jaunt from ‘O Canada’ House, you will not only find some of the most popular brand name stores from around the world, such as Banana Republic, Zara and Armani Exchange but also a fabulous selection of little boutique shops.
For the kids on your list, you can’t go wrong with the Kids Market on Granville Island. Everything you need for the little ones can be found here; check out a Vancouver favorite, the Granville Island Toy Company; get your creative juices flowing at Just Imagine, with a huge selection of specialty costumes, crazy hats and children’s formal wear; or inspire your little funny-man with some treats from Clownin’ Around Magic.
Commercial Drive, known as Vancouver’s “Expressive Edge” attracts locals and tourists from all walks of life. As a reflection of the people that frequent the area the shopping choices are varied and very unique. Home to 28 shops of the 2010 Georgia Straight’s “Best Of Vancouver Awards”, Commercial Drive is the neighborhood where you can find something for everyone on your list. Treat the connoisseur to a tipple of BC wine from The Drive’s huge BC liquor store and pair it with the stinkiest cheese you can find from La Grotta Del Formaggio, Vancouver’s “Best Of” cheese shop. For the gardener, visit another “Best Of”, Figaro’s Garden. Attic Treasures (yes, yet another “Best Of”) lives up to its name, with a great selection of vintage and retro furnishings.
Gastown, the self proclaimed “Modern Urban District”, is where you can shop of all of your interior design needs. The Oriental Rug Bazaar features the largest selection of handmade rugs on the West Coast; find the latest in contemporary designs at ’small | medium | large’ and InForm Designs. For all of the modern shopping that this neighborhood houses, it still retains much of its old world charm with cobblestone streets and the fully restored Gastown Steam Clock.
No matter who is on your shopping list this year, you are sure to find interesting and unique gifts for everyone (and probably a few for yourself!) in Vancouver, BC.
